Heavenly has been getting pounded with snow this past week, so we took advantage of the killer conditions and got an aerial view of the mountain. We woke up to a super cold, blue bird day with a blanket of fresh snow covering the mountain and drove out to the South Tahoe airport a 6 am. An hour before, we had a group of 12 skiers and 2 guides meet at the base of Heavenly and start moving into position at different places on the mountain. It is pretty incredible the amount of coordination it takes to pull off a heli shoot, but all the skiers and guides made it to the right spots at the right time. Big thanks also goes out the Ski Patrol for getting up even earlier than normal and making sure areas were clear to ski. We were able to get some amazing images, look for them in Heavenly’s future video productions.
This video is a behind the scenes look at the shoot. -Shot with the Canon 5d m2 -15mm lens & 24-70mm lens. The footage shot for Heavenly’s “Marketing” shots of the skiing was all shot with the HVX200 for slowmo purposes. Only those quick cuts of skiing were the HVX200 footage.
